Buy Fresh Buy Local Hampton Roads is a partner with FoodRoutes.org and is part of a national nonprofit campaign helping connect consumers with local producers and foodways.

Our mission is to help consumers make informed decisions about where they buy their food and understand why it is important to keep our food dollars invested in our local economy.

The Hampton Roads chapter began organizing in the spring of 2009 and produced its first Fall Food Guide in October of that year. Since then the organization has produced three seasonal guides to help direct consumers to producers and restaurants who are growing, harvesting, producing and serving the freshest, most delicious local foods.

In addition to producing seasonal guides, BFBLHR also hosts numerous consumer education events throughout the year including screenings of the movie Fresh, speaking engagements for interested groups, and "Farm to Feast" weeks throughout the year with partner restaurants and producers.
